During COVID my family has been trying to find things to do that is away from people and gets us a little exercise. Hiking the community trails has been our savior. Pictures will be coming soon and redone during the summer so you can see the trails at their peak beauty. I hope you love some these trails as much as we do! Now go an have an adventure!
Bath Trails
Bengel Wildlife Center
*Dirt Path
This fun little trail takes you around the countryside of the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy. Just take the path past the buildings to the dirt trail that follows a meadow and small fishing pond. The building itself houses a weekend pub and wedding venue. The best time to hike is during the week. Sorry no map! |

DeWitt Trails
Granger Meadows Trail
* Paved Path
Start at the pavilions and take left at the paved trail. You will soon find yourself at a huge sledding hill my kids love to hike. Turn the bend and you will find a large park for the kids to play at. Sorry no map! |

East Lansing Trails
Grand Ledge Trails
Fitzgerald Park
* Dirt Path
There are 4 trails to hike at this park. We love the Ledges Trail that takes you down by the river. Getting to trail is a little hike as you have to walk through the park to the very end where is takes a winding decent to the river. Once there, you can climb the amazing rocks or stroll along the narrow dirt path that follows the river. |
Holt Trails
Valhalla Trail
*Paved / Dirt Path
This park has two trails; one is short and runs through the woods by the lake, and the other is part of a paved river trail leading through Holt and into Lansing. We love this trail because the kids can play at the park before we head of into the woods. Just wait till summer and it will be beautiful! |
Laingsburg Trails
Sleepy Hollow Hiking Trails
*Dirt Path
There are lots trails around Ovid Lake. Some of them are hiking trails whiles others are horse trails. We love doing both at this location. You can park on both sides of the lake and hit a trail. The one we really love is by the boat launch and L to K and then around the little island. Take trail M to L on the way back! |

Lansing Trails
River Trail
*Paved Path
Talk about awesome! This trail has it all. Paved for biking or hiking it will take you from Wavery road all the way to MSU. You can get on from a million different locations but we love our hike to start at Hawk Island so the kids can play and take it all the way to downtown Lansing. There we catch a bite to eat and head back. |

Meridian Township Trails
Lake Lansing North
*Dirt Path
Wow! Did we find a great trail or what?! Starting to the left of the playground you walk through the woods on a beautiful hilly trail. It is a one-way system that contains two trails and a cross country skiing option. It took us about an hour hike but of course we had to stop to check out all the cool teepees made by past hikers. |
Meridian Riverfront Trails
*Dirt Path
I hate to be biased but this is our favorite family trail because of the beautiful scenery and river views. This trail system cuts throught three different locations: Eastgate Park, Harris Nature Centure, and Legg Park. I will be honest, that Eastgate Park and Harris Nature Center have the most well kept side of the trail. You can start at anyone of three locations. |
